US Fulbright Specialist Program titled, “Smart Port Management: Empowering Economic Prosperity with AI Bootcamp” Training Course held at Bangladesh Maritime University


US Fulbright Specialist Program titled, “Smart Port Management: Empowering Economic Prosperity with AI Bootcamp” Training Course held at Bangladesh Maritime University.The program held at BMU from 31 Aug to 25 Sep 2025. The training course was designed and executed by the collaboration with U.S.A Embassy in Bangladesh and Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University. The resource person of the program was the Fulbright Program Specialist of the U.S. Department of State Dr. Burak Cankaya, Associate Professor, Department of Decision Sciences and Analytics, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, USA. The participants of the program were all Deans, Head of the Departments, Faculty Members of BMU and representatives from different maritime stakeholders like Chittagong Port Authority, Mongla Port Authority, Payra Port Authority, Chittagong Dry Dock Limited, BIWTA, Department of Shipping, Khulna Shipyard etc. The Chairman of the Payra Port Authority Rear Admiral Masud Iqbal, NPP, ndc, psc was also present in the program. Certificate Award Ceremony of the training course held at the BMU auditorium on 24 September 2025 at 1430 hrs. The honourable Vice Chancellor of BMU Rear Admiral Dr. Khandakar Akhter Hossain, NUP, ndc, psc, PhD graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The Director of Strategic Planning and Quality Assurance (SPQA) of UGC Dr. Durga Rani Sarker, The Deputy Director of Public Engagement of the U.S. Embassy Richard Bruner and U.S. Speaker Phillip Grove, Director of Business Development, Ellicott Dredge Enterprises, LLC were present at the ceremony. The program aims to integrate global best practices in smart port management, AI applications in maritime sectors and automation in shipping operations. It includes hands-on instruction, collaborative workshops and strategic guidance for faculty members and the participants from maritime stakeholders.
