It’s a pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Shipping Administration at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University. Since the motto of the University is to be the centre of maritime excellence, so the faculty is trying to focus its academic activities on shipping administration, which is a significant part of the maritime industry.  At present, the faculty is conducting two Masters Programme named "Master in Port & Shipping Management" and “Master in Maritime Science” under the department of Port and Shipping Management and Maritime Science. Also, an undergraduate programme named “BBA in Port Management & Logistics” is being conducted efficiently under the Department of Port & Shipping Management. The faculty is determined to provide quality education in the field of the port, shipping, logistics management, freight forwarding, cargo operation, fleet management, ship chartering & brokering practices, supply chain management, ship sales, and purchase, etc. Such initiative will certainly create opportunities to transform the knowledge and skills into action in a complex socio-economic context to contribute for the betterment of our community and our country as a whole. To support these academic activities, we have prominent academicians, professionals, maritime experts in the form of full time and adjunct faculty. In addition to the formal course curriculum, the faculty also arranges short courses, seminars and workshops, industrial visit, field visits, which contributes to enrich the learning experience of our students.

Students who wish to follow a career in port and shipping administration and management or in the related fields of logistics, freight forwarding, port agency, ship chartering, brokering, sale and purchase should enroll themselves under this faculty. I expect that this faculty will produce qualified professional, who can handle the complex nature of shipping administrations, sea transport and logistics. We try to provide practical skills to our students so that after attaining their degree they can enable themselves to cope up with the job market.
