Department of Maritime Science

The Department of Maritime Science began its journey in 2018, from the very inception of this university under the Faculty of Shipping Administration. It offers both a Master's program in Maritime Science and a special Bachelor's program named Bachelor of Maritime Studies. The department is committed to providing an excellent teaching and learning environment, following global standard curricula to impart quality education by qualified and competent teachers.

The Master's in Maritime Science, the flagship program of the department, spans over two years and is divided into four semesters. This program has enrolled six batches to date and requires a total of 60 credits, encompassing theoretical classes, practical sessions, field trips, student concluding seminars, and a thesis. The total expense for the course is approximately 73,000 BDT.

This comprehensive program is designed to equip graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills for various careers in maritime science. Major subjects such as Ocean Science, Marine Spatial Planning, Maritime Economics, Port Operation and Planning, and Port and Shipping Management are taught to help graduates develop expertise in relevant fields. Graduates of this department have a unique opportunity to develop their careers in various areas of the job market, such as domestic and foreign ports, terminals and ICDs, university teaching, shipping management companies, commercial organizations, freight forwarding companies, and ship broking agencies.
