Department of Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture

The Department of Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture started its journey from January 2020 through starting the Bachelor of Science in Marine Fisheries program. This Department is committed to provide an excellent teaching and learning environment and research opportunities for undergraduate students in Bangladesh with degrees in Marine Fisheries which will contribute in producing skilled and trained scholars and manpower in the field of blue economy. Global standard Graduates  of this Department will get a unique opportunity to develop their career in the different areas of job market especially in the field of fisheries, marine fisheries and aquaculture in home and abroad.

Undergraduate Admissions

General information regarding undergraduate admission into  BSc in Marine Fisheries:

  • Students from the Science Division having a minimum GPA set by the admission committee in both SSC and HSC examinations (or their equivalent) may apply for admission.
  • Candidates must appear for the written entrance examination.
  • Candidates will be selected finally based on their combined marks obtained in the written admission test, HSC/equivalent examination, and SSC/equivalent examination.

B.Sc in Marine Fisheries Program Educational Objectives:

Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Marine Fisheries is a fully integrated professional course of study for the persons willing to prepare themselves for variety of careers in the Fishing sectors, Fish Processing Plants, Aquaculture Farms and Hatcheries, Integrated Costal Management, Marine Spatial Planning, fisheries research etc. The duration of this course is 4 (Four) years. In this period students learn how to maximize the proper and sustainable utilization of marine living resources. Students will get sufficient practical knowledge regarding Marine Resources during their research project/internship at final year.

Undergraduate Degree Performance Awards

  1. Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship: Merit-based scholarship awarded by the honorable vice-chancellor to students who achieve a semester GPA of 3.75 or higher.
  2. BSMRMU Stipend:  Merit-based scholarship is given to the students if their parent's annual income is not sufficient and if the students achieve a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Students Organizations

Faculty mentored extracurricular clubs offer social activities, projects, and opportunities to participate in regional and national conferences and competitions.
