Institutional Quality Assurance Cell

Quality is an important issue in higher education. Establishment of quality assurance system in higher education is a global concern now. There is a growing demand for quality assurance (QA) mechanisms at national, regional and global levels. For achieving the target of quality education, the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) and the World Bank has funded the project known as Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) under which Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) are being established in different public and private universities to create an enabling framework to provide quality education. It is to mention that the higher education institutions around the world have been introduced to quality assurance system internally with formal institutional approach and documentation. Keeping this thought, BSMRMU established an independent office named Academic Quality Assurance and Evaluation Department (AQAED) under its own organogram. This department is not financed by the HEQEP project. But to ensure quality education, this department is operating under BSMRMU Organogram, Budget and full support of the university itself.

This department has given special emphasis in conducting workshop, seminar, symposium and training programmes on quality assurance mechanism to orient and educate the in-house faculties and officers. Besides, internal self-assessment of faculties, teaching facilities, administration supports, program/course content and design, etc. are conducted regularly to get the useful feedback from students and faculties. The curriculums of different programmes are also being developed and revised (where necessary) as per the quality guidelines. Students and faculties are always encouraged to provide all sorts of advice and suggestion for the ultimate development of higher education in this university.
