Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Bangladesh with the motto “We Strive for Maritime Excellence” has started its journey as the 1st ever specialized University in Maritime Domain of Bangladesh in 2013. Presently the academic activities are ongoing in the temporary campus situated in Mirpur-12, Dhaka. This is the 37th public university of the country, the 3rd Maritime University in South Asia and the 12th Maritime University in the world.

Considering the increasing demand in Maritime Sector with a view to establish specialized manpower for maritime affairs and harness the enormous ocean resources,  Bangladesh govt. has allocated land of 106.66 acre for Permanent Campus near River Karnafuli in Thana Chandgaon, area Hamidchor, Chottogram. The Project Director, Captain Mohammad Waseem Maqsood, (G), BGCM, psc, BN along with his project team is relentlessly working to materialize the dream project of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to establish the BSMRMU Permanent Campus and continue the academic activities at the earliest.

The RDPP for the 1st phase has been approved with 32xdifferent components which includes Academic, Administration, Residential and Utility infrastructures and facilities. The project is scheduled to be completed by Jun 2026. In this connection, tenders are floated in e-GP process where competent tenderers can participate to build quality infrastructures for the University.
