Faculty of Maritime Governance and Policy is one of the pioneer faculties of the university. The faculty is providing an excellent teaching and learning environment, innovative course curriculum, effective and diverse methods of teaching, and quality programs. In addition to the regular academic activities, the faculty frequently arranges seminars, workshops and guest lectures on contemporary subjects. The faculty   is comprised of the following departments:

• Department of Maritime Law and Policy
• Department of Maritime Security and Strategic Studies
• Department of Maritime Safety Administration

Its first-ever academic programme was LLM in Maritime Law, which was started by the Department of Maritime Law and Policy from September 2015. Presently, besides LLM Maritime Law’ this faculty also offers LLB (Honours) in Maritime Law  under the Department of Maritime Law and Policy; and a Master Programme on Maritime Development and Strategic Studies under the Department of Maritime Security and Strategic Studies. Another department named will start it’s academic activities soon. For the academic enrichment of the students and faculties, FMGP regularly arranges seminars/workshops on contemporary subjects.

In addition to formal academic program, the Faculty has taken initiative to introduce a number of certificate and diploma courses to provide professional and practical training. Recently, a certificate course on 'Marine Insurance & Claim' has started with the participation from different government and private agencies' officials. The upcoming certificate and diploma courses are, inter alia,

• Maritime Labour Convention
• Trade and Transport Law
• International Maritime Codes and Conventions
• Maritime Safety Law
• Maritime Law and Shipping Contract
• Law of Carriage of Goods by Sea
