Our faculty aims to enrich your knowledge in all facets of the ocean environment and marine resources of Bangladesh and around the world. We provide excellent educational and research opportunities for students through observation, experimentation and modeling. Besides classroom learning, students of this faculty are engaged in various field-based research activities that enhance their practical knowledge even more. Our curriculum provides the tools and knowledge for the students to succeed in any component of the rapidly evolving workforce in the maritime sector.

The Faculty of Earth and Ocean Science at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University is comprised of three departments, namely the Department of Oceanography and Hydrography, the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and the Department of Fisheries and Aqua Culture. We offer three Master's programs, namely Master in Marine Biotechnology, MSc in Oceanography and MSc in Marine Fisheries. Besides, we offer two undergraduate programs, namely BSc (Honors) in Oceanography and BSc (Honors) in Marine Fisheries. Our programs and faculty can help transform students into lifelong learners with the ability to thrive in an ever-changing world.

To ensure academic excellence, we have well-equipped multimedia classrooms, prominent academicians, professionals, and maritime experts from home and abroad. We also have state of the art laboratory facilities for conducting world class research. In addition to the formal course curriculum, we also arrange short courses, seminars, workshops, study tours and field visits, which contribute to enriching the learning experience of our students.
