It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of General Studies at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University. This faculty is created to study disciplines of liberal arts and some other science subjects. The courses under this faculty are intended to diversify knowledge. The programs that we offer under this faculty are of very high quality and standard. The mission of these programs is to create conscious citizens of the nation who will be able to give valuable opinions, make independent judgments and make a good contribution for the welfare of our country.

Our graduates will be always in pursuit of knowledge that makes them culturally aware and involves them in humanitarian works. I hope that the students of Faculty of General Studies will build the intellectual foundations and skills and go to the higher positions in their lives. They will be able to explore equity, to create something new, challenge any source of unfair means and become the leaders of the society.

The diversity of the courses offered by Faculty of General Studies will help our students to become a creative writer, a teacher, a sociologist, a mathematician, a physicist, a chemist, an anthropologist, a historian and an entrepreneur and many other national and global professionals. I finally pray for the success of this faculty.
