The High Commissioner of Maldives to Bangladesh H.E Shiuneen Rasheed paid a call on with the Vice Chancellor of BMU


Her Excellency the High Commissioner Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to the People's Republic of Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed paid a call on with the Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Maritime University Rear Admiral Dr. Khandakar Akhter Hossain, NUP, ndc, psc, PhD at his office on 17 June 2025. The Vice Chancellor had a fruitful discussion with the High Commissioner describing the ongoing academic and administrative activities of the university at its temporary campus. He informed her about the ongoing construction works of establishing university's permanent campus at Hamidchar, Chattogram. The Vice Chancellor mentioned that, the university is the 3rd maritime university in the sub continent and 12th in the world. The university is aimed to be the international standard maritime university and it has also built mutual collaboration with different maritime universities and related organizations with different foreign countries in the world. It is mentionable that, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Maldives National University and Bangladesh Maritime University is in the process. The Vice Chancellor also expressed his deep expectations to get help and collaboration with the peoples of Maldives and the High Commissioner also.      

At that time the High Commissioner assured the Vice Chancellor to whole hearted support to the journey of the university and to build the collaboration with the maritime institutions of Maldives, joint educational and research works, technological support, Students and Faculty exchange programs and any other field to work together. She also expressed that the BMU is also the opportunity of Maldives Students to higher maritime education and research and they will get the opportunity very soon. She expressed her deep satisfaction for the overall progress and gradual development of the university yet and invited the Vice Chancellor to visit her country within a short time and to find out those joint initiatives for higher maritime education and research.
