The Bay of Bengal, located to the South of Bangladesh, plays a crucial role in the country's climate and economy. It influences the monsoon season, bringing heavy rainfall that supports agriculture, but it also exposes Bangladesh to natural disasters like cyclones and floods. The coastal region of Bangladesh, rich in biodiversity, is home to the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest, which acts as a buffer against storm surges and helps protect coastal communities. The IBBBS has been established, focusing on the research activities in the maritime sectors in Bangladesh. In BMU, IBBBS boasts an academic environment that is highly competitive and conducive to research.
