International Conference on Oceanography (ICO 2024) started in Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute (BORI), Cox's Bazar on 27 January 2024. The theme of the conference is "Oceanography for Sustainable Blue Economy: Innovation for Better Future". Gracing the program as Chief Guest Md. Ali Ahsan, Secretary of Ministry of Science and Technology inaugurated the conference. Rear Admiral (Retd) Khurshed Alam, Secretary (Maritime Affairs Unit) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) attended as Special Guest. In his presentation, VC of BSMRMU highlighted the importance of expertise and technological collaboration amongst maritime institutes. In his speech, he also expressed how BSMRMU is contributing on maritime expertise development in Bangladesh. BSMRMU faculty members and a good number of students are also actively taking part in the conference.
