Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Bangladesh (BSMRMU) and CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India (CSIR-NIO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Scientific Cooperation in Ocean Sciences. The MoU was signed in India on 07th July, 2023 by Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, Vice-Chancellor of BSMRMU and Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh, Director of CSIR-NIO.

The MoU will establish a framework for activities in the area of Ocean Sciences, which in turn, will contribute to advancement of research and development for the benefit of society at large and the outputs will contribute towards the blue economy mission between both the countries. In addition, this MoU, will strengthen cooperation in terms of capacity building and human resource development.

Also, BSMRMU Vice Chancellor visited Goa University, National Maritime Foundation and Gujrat National Law University. During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor discussed various areas of the existing MoU with these institutions. The existing MoU mentions cooperation in various sectors including education, research and faculty-student exchange in the maritime field.

This MoU will allow to develop partnership and enhance cooperation between BSMRMU and Indian Maritime Institution in promoting maritime education and research.
